OUR CURRICULUM

THE HEART OF AGAPE LITTLE UNI. CURRICULUM

Agape Little Uni.’s Philosophy is to Build Firm Foundations in children to prepare them for success in life. For a child to be successful, we strongly believe in cultivating strong values in him/her. The future of education is not totally about getting the children to read, write or count, but it is about their abilities to adapt to new situations. We want to prepare our children to be the fore runners of character. No matter how successful our children are in their future endeavours, what define and differentiate our children from the rest are their positive character and morals.

Our firm belief in Character Development leads us to adopt and develop the INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING (IBL) Curriculum. Agape Little Uni. IBL Curriculum is progressive. The content grows in depth as our children grow and develop with us. Driven by concepts and questions, learning experiences are relevant to current trends in the world and the learning needs of young children.

Infant Agapian

As babies mature, they start to develop their auditory and tactile sensations, which results in a variety of behaviours, our educators seek to understand these changes, by creating strong bonds and entrenching routines and constant interactions with the children.

We provide a stimulating environment for infants by introducing new concepts which triggers their five senses and helps with their growth and development.

While infants can be unpredictable, we endeavour to always accommodate their natural feeding times and daily routines, to ensure that they feel safe and secure. Therefore we ensure that our schedules for infants are flexible and that our teachers are always ready to handle changes.

Parents and Agape Little Uni.

Parents, teachers and child/infant form a cohesive community at Agape Little Uni.. We recognise that every child/infant that comes to us has specialised needs, therefore we build firm partnerships with our parents to ensure that we continuously care for their little ones in the best way possible.

Maintaining constant communication with parents is important to ensure that the care rendered to the infants remains consistent. We share with parents’ daily updates about their infant’s day and inform parents about all school activities.

We believe in not just listening to our parents, but also asking them about their infants to ensure constant parental involvement, which is key to an infant’s self-construction.

Monitoring your infant’s milestones

We know that every kid is a unique entity, therefore our daily reflections are grounded upon the unique pattern of your child’s development. We are able to determine the interests of your infant through careful documentation of our observations and not simply assumptions.

Early Years Agapians

In their formative years, young children learn best through play because it allows them to explore, form a relationship and eventually understand the world that they live in.

Exploration leads to discovery and eventual knowledge, which provides predictability and a sense of belonging thus preparing children for their preschool education.

At Agape Little Uni., our teachers work with children to nurture their creativity, confidence, individuality and social skills. Our classrooms are specially designed to make learning approachable and fun! All activities that children engage in Agape Little Uni. are designed to evoke a sense of curiosity, interest, and excitement towards their learning experience. Children with the guidance of their teachers find themselves immersed in activities that are interactive and engaging certain that the lessons are memorable.

Fostering good character development in our little children is the cornerstone of Agape Little Uni. and this is reflected in our everyday teaching. Teachers use positive language to empower the children to be creative and motivated learners with an interest in their environments.

In the first three years of a child’s life, they explore the environment using their five senses. In Agape Little Uni., we ensure the varied interests and learning styles of young children are amplified through the 7-Step Teaching Strategy that include role play, art and craft, and storytelling. With classroom experiences reflecting the children’s immediate real worlds, our Little Agapians can experiment with new ideas that help them take ownership of their work, through play!

At Agape Little Uni., teachers and young children are co-learners where the former provide a conducive and rich environment for learning and stimulate the children’s critical thinking skills with effective, age-appropriate questions in the classrooms.

Young children gain precious knowledge such as 21st century skills, psychomotor abilities as well as an inquiry discovery of the world around them. Through our Early Years Curriculum, our Little Agapians are prepared for more challenging and exciting learning ahead!

Preschool Agapians

As our Little Agapians prepare for primary school and beyond, the Preschool Programme is designed to help them learn best through purposeful play and imaginative exploration. Through the process of inquiry, our little pre-schoolers learn 21st century skills that allow them to collaborate with one another whilst engaging with the materials around them.

At Agape Little Uni., teachers are facilitators of learning who allow children to discover their unique learning styles through quality interactions and holistic learning experiences. At this stage, teachers stimulate the interest of the pre-schoolers through formulated questions. As co-learners, teachers and students work as a team to investigate, gather information, and communicate new concepts and ideas learnt to parents and the community.

Our preschoolers are encouraged to take ownership of what they wish to learn and how to learn with the guidance of the teachers. At Agape Little Uni., there are a myriad of learning areas that allow children to experiment within planned and supervised environments. Teachers then provide feedback for children to develop critical thinking skills as well as evaluate their own work. Children build resilience as they learn from their mistakes and seek guidance.

At Agape Little Uni., young children are prepared for lifelong learning and encouraged to have positive attitudes towards acquiring knowledge. Character development is embedded in every day teaching and learning experiences. Children learn to socialise, and associate good and undesirable behaviours while moulding their own personalities.

In addition to curriculum materials that include Mathematics, Visual Arts and Motor Skills Development, children acquire critical skills in Phonics where they learn to use new phrases in spoken language and connect the dots between classroom learning experiences with real life scenarios.

Preschoolers in Agape Little Uni. gain important soft skills that allow them to be adaptive for future education and become efficient communicators.
