Racial Harmony Day 2022
In the spirit of celebrating Racial Harmony Day, Agape Little Uni. @ Clementi participated in a range of cultural activities such as arts and crafts and traditional games. The children came in traditional outfits such as the Cheong Sam, Lengha and Baju Kebaya for the girls and Samfoo, Jeepa and Baju Kurung for the boys.
Each level was assigned a different craft, where the early years children designed a handicraft representing the different races in Singapore. The Nursery 2 and Kindergarten 1 children created puppets by drawing out people in traditional outfits. The Kindergarten 2 children worked together as a group and created a poster about Racial Harmony Day.
Each class was provided with games such as 5 stones, chapteh, and sarongs for tying (a game on ‘Who can tie the sarong the fastest?’). These games aim to celebrate the diverse cultures in Singapore and, as a result, strengthen ties among the children of different ethnic communities. Through these activities, it fosters a sense of belonging, respect, and inclusion in schools. It enables the students to be aware of the different ethnic groups as well as gain an appreciation of multiculturalism in Singapore.
