STREAM Summer Camp
Experience once and benefit for a lifetime

The Summer Camp, which originated in the United States, is a series of educational activities for children in the summer. Different summer camp projects offer different activities to train children’s different abilities and allow children to grow in the interim phase of the course.

Agape Little Uni. Encourages students to participate in an educational activity such as “Summer Camp”. Every year, Agape Little Uni. carry out well-designed STREAM inquiry course (Science, Technology, Relationship, Entrepreneurship, Arts, Mathematics) to map out specific summer camp projects.

In the upcoming third semester, the discovery theme of inquiry-based courses is on how the world works. The focus of learning will be: exploring the natural world and the laws of nature; the interaction between the natural world (physical and biological) and human society; how humans use their understanding of scientific principles; the impact of technological advancement on society and the environment.

In the three-day STREAM camp this year, we followed the pace of the new semester inquiry course and designed food baking, repair experiments, art creation and outdoor development for children to enjoy the diversity of activities. Students having fun and get a variety of new skills to make the holiday more fulfilling and meaningful.

Camp Overview

Day 1

BAKING
Under the guidance of the teacher, the children added ingredients in different proportions, mixed them, and finally baked them by means of equipment. In this activity, the children learned the difference between white sugar, brown sugar and cane sugar; They also learned mathematics through baking such as volume and measurement; and experienced how to create food and enjoy the food culture.

DRAWING ROBOT
Children use environmentally friendly materials such as sponges, caps and foams to assemble “drawing robots” with tools. Children Making use of comprehensive materials to expand the way they create.

Day 2

POWER CARS
Children use different materials to make clocks and power cars based on past experience and knowledge. Here in Agape Little Uni, children are exposed to basic physics concepts and learn how humans use their creativity to make machinery to serve humans.

POTTERY
Agape Little Uni.’s Teacher shared their knowledge about pottery and made the children understand clay material. The children also created their own pottery works. In Agape Little Uni., children explore the physical properties of clay and how humans use materials to create lifestyle and art appliance.

Day 3

OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SKILLS

On this day, children went outside and learned the basic skills of outdoor survival: setting up tents, washing fruits and vegetables, smashing branches and making fires, filtering dirty water, etc. Such activities are difficult to experience in schools. The children not only mastered many new skills but also cultivated a sense of personal responsibility and collective honour.

WONDERFUL MOMENT

Operate simple machinery and explore the mysteries of science

The scientific activity in early childhood is science enlightenment education. Agape Little Uni makes full use of the opportunities of nature and real life, conducts scientific enlightenment education, stimulates children’s interest in learning, and mobilises the active participation and exploration of children’s various senses. By letting the children observe various clocks, and disassembling and installing them, we design and decorate our own watches to deepen the children’s understanding of the operation of the clocks. By pushing the different wheels of the toy car, let the children explore the effect of the gear. In these activities, children can experience the use of science in our daily lives and understand how simple machines work.

Handmade Pottery

Ceramic art education fully reflects the essence of quality education, is a vivid embodiment of aesthetic education, and has far-reaching significance for improving children’s cultural quality. The study of pottery makes children feel close and free. The clay is soft with a variety of characteristics, allowing children to release themselves and explain their innocence. “The only exercise your hands can inspire your mind and promote the development of art. Hands activities are the source of thinking.” Children put the soil in the tray and create different kinds of actions by tapping, smashing, pulling, grouping and other actions. Shape them and create their own work. In the production process, the children fully demonstrated their personality and exerted ample imagination and creativity. At the same time, the children’s aesthetic and artistic literacy have also improved.

Master Outdoor Skill and Improve Self-Care Ability

In the sunny day, children learn outdoor survival skills is an activity that tests physical strength and will. Severe challenges will motivate your child’s potential and let them re-recognize themselves. During the activity, the instructor guides the children to carry out the imagination, carry out the scenario simulation, and imagine that they are placed in the wild forests where nowhere to live, using simple survival equipment and their own skills to seek survival. In the field survival training, children not only learn to search for food, clean the food, cooking, build tents, set directions and self-rescue, but also develop the hidden potential of their brains and bodies. Which makes our pampered children self-reliant in this exercise and take care of themselves.

Although the summer camp is only three days, the children have gained a lot. During the baking activities, the children were exposed to the original ingredients and participated in the process of changing the food from birth to life; In science activities, children understand that science comes from life and on life; In the art activities, the children discovered beauty and created beauty; In outdoor activities, children experience the environment and learn how they can use the environment. In addition to harvesting knowledge, ideas and methods, children have also improved their overall quality – In the baking activities, the children learned to be rigorous and careful, and only in the right proportions can they make the most delicious food; In scientific activities, children learn critical thinking, and only based on objective analysis of physical objects can the instruments operate correctly; In art activities, children learn to express their uniqueness. Only by presenting their own ideas in the works is the most unique creation; In outdoor activities, children learn to cooperate, and only by working with everyone can they overcome the difficulties at hand. The summer camp is a good exercise for every child involved. We look forward to having more children join the Agape Little Uni. summer camp project next year and grow with us!
